Getting back on Track

Rough Super Bowl for me. Chiefs got wacked and the damn coin landed on heads. That's in the past though, just like the end of last week. After a few days of taking it easy with picks it's time to right this ship. 3 games for tonight.

New York Knicks (+6, O/U 209) @ Miami Heat

The Knicks are coming off a 109-103 loss to Miami and a trade which saw them land Derrick Rose from Detroit for Dennis Smith Jr. It is unclear whether Rose will play tonight or not. Miami is on a 2 game roll here and they seem to be settling into a little rhythm after getting most of their key players back from injury and COVID protocols. They are sitting outside of the playoffs at the moment and they need to go on a little run here to get back in contention. At home I like Miami to win this one. I'm going to buy a few points tonight just to give them a little more breathing room.

Pick: Miami -3.5 @ -170

Boston Celtics (+6, O/U 220) @ Utah Jazz

This should be a really great matchup tonight. The Jazz are HOT. Winners of 15 of their last 16. They are the best team in basketball right now. The Celtics are coming off a 9 point loss to the Suns after they beat the Clippers. Jaylen Brown is banged up for Boston and questionable tonight. If he is out then give me Utah to stay hot and cover tonight, especially at home. Both teams shot miserably from the field in their last games, so they'll be looking to shoot much better tonight. Take a good look at the 220 total, I think they'll be right around it.

Pick: Utah -6

Anaheim Ducks (+215, O/U 5.5) @ Las Vegas Golden Knights

Anaheim is coming off a 2-1 win against San Jose, but this is a bad hockey team. Scoring has been a painful expedition for this team and they will have to do a lot of it if they want to stay close to this red hot Vegas team. I'm keeping it simple here, give me the puckline for Vegas, I can't justify anything else.

Pick: Vegas -1.5

Underdog of the night:

I've decided to add a bonus underdog pick to these blogs. This will not be an official pick that I count against my record. I will simply use this to focus on a team that I think has a good shot at pulling off an upset on any given night. Tonight I think that team is Nashville over Tampa Bay. Nashville has lost is slumping a bit right now, losing 4 of 5, including 3 to Tampa. They lost 4-1 to Tampa last night, but it was a close 2-1 game before Tampa got a pair of empty netters. I think Nashville will be starving for a win, especially one over this Tampa team.

Pick: Nashville +150

Overall: 15-9-0
