Monday Gambling Primer

Welcome to the first installment of the daily/semi-daily gambling picks blog. The name for this series is still under construction so bear with me for a little while, but you can always find it on the Gambling Zone page. My goal here is to pick out 3 or 4 games on any given night and give picks I like on them. If I start to get hot then I suggest rolling with me. If I can't make a pick to save my life then just fade the shit out of me. Either way you should be cashing some tickets. I am getting my lines from Fanduel for reference. Let's get on with the first picks.

Miami Heat -5 (ML -210, O/U TBA) vs Charlotte Hornets

Miami got Jimmy Butler back last game and barely beat the Kings 105-104. Harkless and Meyers Leonard are ruled out again for this game. Bradley, Dragic, and Herro are listed as questionable, Herro is likely going to be out though due to COVID protocols. Charlotte on the other hand will likely be without Rozier, but are mostly healthy otherwise. Charlotte is hot right now coming off of back to back wins over solid teams in Indiana and Milwaukee. Due to the injuries for Miami and the way Charlotte is playing right now I like Charlotte with the points. Charlotte moneyline may be a solid play here as well.

Pick: Charlotte +5

Boston Bruins (ML -156, O/U 5.5) @ Washington Capitals

I'll be honest with you here I cannot pick a Caps game to save my life. They are actually on my no bet list, but because this is the first daily picks blog I am going to try my luck and hope the hockey gods send a couple bounces my way. Washington beat Boston a few nights ago 4-3 in OT. These two teams have only 1 regulation loss between the two of them. 5 out of the 8 games both Boston and Washington have played this year have gone to OT. Boston's offense started off painfully slow, but has started to pick up some steam in the past couple games and Pastrnak's return from injury will only make it better. Washington has at least 3 goals in every game but 1 this year. I am going to play it safe here and take the over. Add a little on the +310 for overtime.

Picks: Over 5.5, OT +310

Montreal Canadians (ML -168, O/U 6.5) vs Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver is hot. Winners of 4 straight. Albeit 3 of those were beatdowns of a shitty Ottawa team. They've allowed just 1 goal per game in the last 4. Montreal is coming off a loss in which they got shutout by Calgary despite having the highest scoring team in the league at over 4 GPG. Head-to-head this season Montreal is 2-0-1 against Vancouver with the 2 wins being by at least 3 goals. These two teams are averaging over 9 GPG when they play. I believe Vancouver is playing over their heads right now and Montreal is going to coming out firing to get back on track after being shutout. I'm going to go with Montreal here on the puckline and I believe these two teams once again go over 6.5.

Picks: Montreal -1.5, Over 6.5

24 Oklahoma (+6.5, O/U 138.5) @ 10 Texas Tech

Texas Tech is coming off a wild win over LSU, a game they really shouldn't have won. Oklahoma is a top 10 killer. Coming off of 3 straight victories over top 10 teams. Becoming only the third team in college basketball history to do so. They were without two key players in Austin Reaves and Alondes Williams in their last game against

#9 Alabama, but it didn't matter. This team is hot right now, winners of 5 straight and they're playing with attitude. I bet against them last game and I won't make that mistake again. Even with Reaves and Williams out again I believe Oklahoma finds a way to cover this one.

Pick: Oklahoma +6.5

Record: 0-0-0

My goal here is to keep a winning % above .650, but I'll see how I feel about that when I'm sitting at below .400 in a couple weeks.
