This Team...

This Philadelphia Flyers hockey team is pain disguised as a professional hockey team. I don't even want to think about what happened last night, let alone write a whole blog about it, but I need to vent my frustration and complete animosity towards this team somehow. Here's the breakdown of last nights shit-show.

Period 1:

What the hell was that? You give up a goal 11 seconds into the game??? Just look at this:

Pastrnak absolutely dangles on Ghost between the legs and blows right by him. Pastrnak then makes a nice move to beat Carter at the net. Poor kid never really stood a chance. That's it I have nothing else to say about this period. We played about as bad a period I've ever seen and we're lucky to get out of it only down 1-0.

Period 2:

Just like every other game this season, the Flyers follow up a completely pathetic period with one in which they look competent and possibly even a very dangerous team to play against. The Flyers started to move their feet, got up on the forecheck and started pressuring the Bruins in their zone. When you do this good things tend to happen. With about 4:30 left in the period Sanheim made a great play, skated deeper into Boston zone to get a loose puck, and fired a pass right on the money across the ice for a Kevin Hayes one-timer goal. This is what is so frustrating about guys like Sanheim. He will get absolutely lost in the defensive zone at times, but you still need him out here because he's a complete weapon who makes timely plays on the offensive end. 1-1 going into the third.

Period 3:

Period 3 starts off hot for the boys. Voracek started off the scoring a little over 1 minute into the period with an open net goal thanks to another beautiful pass from Sanheim, who once again skated deeper into the zone and made a phenomenal play. Next Joel Farabee launches a one-timer into the back of the net off a nice 2-on-1 pass from Scotty Laughts. The play was made possible by JVR making a great play in the neutral zone and getting the puck up to Laughts for the 2-on-1. JVR is playing lights out hockey right now if you haven't noticed. If you've been doing the math you will know that the Flyers now have a 2 goal lead, and you know how this story ends. Pastrnak nets his 2nd of the night 10 seconds into a Boston PP thanks to an Aube-Kubel penalty. Then, thanks to a terrible holding penalty by Kevin Hayes, Pastrnak ties the game on the PP with 15 seconds left in the game. Not to be outdone by Hayes or Kubel however, Scott Laughton takes what may be one of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen in my life with seven seconds left in the game.

No words. Into OT a man down we go.

OT:

I'm not even going to show you Bergeron's winner. Save us all the trauma and disappointment.

I don't know what to do with this team. The inconsistency is mind-boggling. Constantly going from looking like a Cup contender one period, to looking like the Detroit Red Wings the next. That might even be an insult to the Red Wings as I'm not sure even they look this bad at times. Blowing 2 goal leads left and right like we're the Falcons and the score is 28-3. I'm just going to try and forget about this and move onto the next game. I look forward to copy and pasting this blog for the next Flyers post-game blog.

Sidenote:

These Reverse Retros are beautiful and I don't care if anyone disagrees. It's a shame this team can make them look so bad.
